Falafel: Middle Eastern Cuisine
I must give credit where credit is due: this meal was inspired by the cooks at Sorted Food (www.sortedfood.com.) They are brilliant British young chefs with a knack for tastefully created recipe videos. Their sense of humor is endearing as well, it’s always refreshing to see attractive men slaving cooking away in the kitchen :) No, they are not endorsing me (*only in my dreams*).
On to the meal. I love salty and spicy Indian/middle eastern cuisine. I’m a sucker for savory flavors balanced with different types of breads and sauces. My Mom makes amazing curry, so I dabbled in something a bit more unique and daring. Falafel is, essentially, fried chickpeas. The chickpea mixture includes onion, garlic, herbs, and spices, all which elicit that mouth watering flavor explosion. This recipe is perfect for a snacky-esqe dinner. We snacked on veggies, red pepper hummus, blue corn chips, salsa, and mini falafel sandwiches topped with tzatziki sauce. Ah, t’was delightful—enjoy the pictorial.
Keep it spicy!
